The author climbed Mount Everest because it is the highest, the mightiest and has defied many previous attempts. It takes the last ounce of one's energy.

He says that standing on the peak of Mount Everest he felt humbled and joyful though he was physically tired. He felt that this joy will remain with him all his life and was thus thankful to God.
