A fruit vendor bought 42kg mangoes at the rate of ₹32 per kg. He sold 30 kg mangoes at the rate of ₹40 per kg and the rest at ₹30 per kg. Find his gain or loss at the end of the day.

Loss of ₹216

Cost price = 42 x 30

                 = 1344

Selling Price 1 = 30 x 40

                       = 1200

Selling Price 2 = remaining mangoes x 30

                        = 12 x 30  

                        = 360

Final result (profit or loss) = 1344 - 1200 - 360

                                          = 1344 - (1200 + 360)

                                          = 1344 - 1560

                                          = -216
