What was the effects of WWII on the women in the Armed Forces? |

In World War II, women participated in the Armed Forces in large numbers for the first time ever.  Although they did not serve in combat positions, there were around 200,000 of them in the service.

The major impact this had on these women was to change their outlooks on life and to give them a very different set of experiences than they otherwise would have had.  Many of them got to see places they never would otherwise have seen and they got to have positions of greater responsibility than they would have had if they had not been in the Armed Forces.
