1. ❥ Increased heat, drought and insect outbreaks, all linked to climate change, have increased wildfires. Declining water supplies, reduced agricultural yields, health impacts in cities due to heat, and flooding and erosion in coastal areas are additional concerns.

2. ❥ The six factors that affect the temperature are: (1) elevation (altitude), (2) latitude, (3) proximity of large bodies of water, (4) ocean currents, (5) proximity of mountain ranges (topography), (6) prevailing and seasonal winds.

3. ❥ Weather refers to short term atmospheric conditions while climate is the weather of a specific region averaged over a long period of time. Climate change refers to long-term changes.

4. ❥ The main factors that affect wind direction and speed are: the pressure-gradient force, the Coriolis force and friction. These factors working together cause the wind to blow in different directions and at different speeds.

5. ❥ Temperature in cities is more than that in villages because : Cities are densely populated. More traffic in cities than in villages.

6. ❥ The atmosphere is comprised of layers based on temperature. These layers are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and thermosphere. A further region at about 500 km above the Earth's surface is called the exosphere.
