when an object is moving in a uniform velocity and it is to be brought at rest the work done will be equal to it's kinetic energy Or it will be equal to change in kinetic energy I. E. Difference of kinetic energy of the object when it has come to rest and when it is in motion​

Kinetic energy depends on the velocity of the object squared. This means that when the velocity of an object doubles, its kinetic energy quadruples.

Kinetic energy must always be either zero or a positive value. While velocity can have a positive or negative value, velocity squared is always positive.
